Music Together

Erin first came to Music Together as a parent, attending classes with her 3-year-old. She loved the experience so much that she trained to become a teacher herself. 
Originally from Northern Minnesota, Erin spent over a decade in New York City as a working actor and earning her MFA in Theatre from the New School for Drama. She studied advanced voice methods under Kristin Linklater, at the Linklater Center in Orkney, Scotland, and is in the process of pursuing her professional designation to teach the Linklater Voice Method. Returning to her Minnesota roots, Erin has made a home in Inver Grove with her husband, their 3 year old daughter, Ellie, and their dog, Maisel. When not in Music Together classes Erin enjoys traveling and making art in some form or another.  She spends her days chasing down her daughter and finds so much joy in rediscovering the world through the eyes of her daughter. Music Together has been a joy as a parent — a chance to meet other parents and kids and a chance to play and connect with my daughter. I can be absolutely exhausted, but I still get a burst of energy after a class and it just feels great. As a teacher, I get that same burst of energy and joy helping other families explore and connect through music.

This engaging class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages in one class. This approach fosters natural, family-style learning where younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together.

Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments. We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience and any caregiver—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the child or children to class.
