Intro to Lifeguarding (Ages: 12-15)Intro to LifeguardingEver wonder what having a job as a lifeguard would be like? This course provides a high-energy, hands-on look at the responsibilities of a professional lifeguard. This is a prep course to give you an idea of the R.24 Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Course. What Participants Will Learn: Surveillance & Victim Recognition: Learn the "10/20 protection standard"—scanning your zone in 10 seconds and being able to reach a victim in 20. Emergency Response Basics: An introduction to CPR, AED use, and First Aid. While this is often a non-certification class, it will provide basic emergency response. Professional Water Entries: Practice specialized entries like the Stride Jump and Compact Jump to enter the water safely while keeping eyes on a victim. Rescue Maneuvers: Introduction to using professional equipment like rescue tubes, resuscitation masks, life ring and pool hook. Leadership & Communication: Develop the "soft skills" of the job, including public relations and directing bystanders during an emergency. Prerequisite: You must have passed a Level 4 Learn to Swim program and be able to swim 50 yards freestyle and be comfortable jumping in and out of deep water.197 Swim Lessons Summer 2026 -
Intro to Swim Team (Ages: 7-17)Intro to Swim TeamThis introductory program is designed for swimmers who have successfully completed Learn to Swim Level 4 and wish to engage in more swimming within a fun and supportive environment. Unlike traditional swim lessons, this program emphasizes mechanics, endurance, time clock interpretation, basic swimming sets, and the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. To enroll in this class, swimmers must demonstrate competency in freestyle and backstroke. Additionally, they should possess a foundational understanding of butterfly and breaststroke, be capable of jumping from the starting blocks or the pool deck, and swim a distance of 50 yards in both freestyle and backstroke continuously. All swimmers will be evaluated on the first day--if your student isn't at a Level 4 ability you will be reimbursed.197 Swim Lessons Summer 2026 -
