This is a prep course to give you an idea of the R.24 Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Course. What Participants Will Learn: Surveillance & Victim Recognition: Learn the "10/20 protection standard"—scanning your zone in 10 seconds and being able to reach a victim in 20. Emergency Response Basics: An introduction to CPR, AED use, and First Aid. While this is often a non-certification class, it will provide basic emergency response. Professional Water Entries: Practice specialized entries like the Stride Jump and Compact Jump to enter the water safely while keeping eyes on a victim. Rescue Maneuvers: Introduction to using professional equipment like rescue tubes, resuscitation masks, life ring and pool hook. Intro to Songwriting and Music Production Camp (Grades: 5-10)3: Camps Starting the Week of June 22This summer camp intensive is for aspiring songwriters and producers and a good precursor to the TRHS music production course. The five-day camp guides students on the essentials of writing, recording and producing original music through the use of GarageBand, a DAW (digital audio workstation) that comes with every apple device. By learning how to record live instruments into GarageBand, as well as utilize its built in drum machines and MIDI instruments, students will not only conclude the course with an original song to share, but will be able to make beats, use MIDI instruments, record, mix and arrange using GarageBand for future compositions. This class may require the use of a personal iPhone, iPad, chromebook or Mac laptop computer. Day 1: Intro to songwriting essentials and the basics of GarageBand and drum programming. Students will pick a key/meter for their song project and begin writing drum beats and bass lines. Day 2: Intro to song form, MIDI instruments, synthesizers and arpeggiators. Students will determine the basic form of their song project and build on their drum beat and bass line. Day 3: Discuss how to write a strong melody and counter melody and learn the essentials about song orchestration. Students will begin writing a melody, counter melody and add chording instrumentation. Day 4: Intro to recording live instruments into GarageBand. Students will experiment with adding live instruments to their projects. Day 5: Intro to editing and mixing with GarageBand. Students will begin finalizing their song project and editing/mixing it. Intro to Swim Team (Ages: 7-17)Intro to Swim TeamThis introductory program is designed for swimmers who have successfully completed Learn to Swim Level 4 and wish to engage in more swimming within a fun and supportive environment. Unlike traditional swim lessons, this program emphasizes mechanics, endurance, time clock interpretation, basic swimming sets, and the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. To enroll in this class, swimmers must demonstrate competency in freestyle and backstroke. Additionally, they should possess a foundational understanding of butterfly and breaststroke, be capable of jumping from the starting blocks or the pool deck, and swim a distance of 50 yards in both freestyle and backstroke continuously.
