Spring SSP Swim Club (Ages 8-15)Sports & RecreationAre you looking for a local opportunity to refine your strokes and build endurance for swim team? Want some game time in the water with other swimmers? Swim Club at Central Square is just the place to build up your swimming muscles and enjoy the water. Workouts will include water safety skills, building fitness as a swimmer and fundamentals of using the diving board. Skill requirement: Must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl and 25 yards backstroke. Come prepared with a one-piece swimsuit, goggles, water bottle, and towel. Questions? WaitlistSSP Swim Lessons - Parent Tot (Ages 12 mo-4 yr)AquaticsParent Tot (Ages 12-48 months with parent/guardian) Learn to enjoy the water safely with your child for ages 12 to 48 months accompanied by a parent or guardian in the water. Registration tip: Children, at the age of 3, may register for Preschool 1 to be in a class without a parent. Preschoolers in the Parent Child class learn skills with the comfort of a parent or guardian in the water. Skills performed with flotation include: Enter and exit the water safely Submerge and explore underwater Glide and recover on front and back Float on back Roll over front to back, back to front Swim on front and back, 5 yd. Registration tip: Upon completion of required skills, children ages 3 to 5 should register for Preschool. Skills include: Jump into shoulder-deep water Breath control, bobbing and rotary breathing Float and glide on front and back Roll over: front to back/back to front Change direction while swimming Tread water, 15 sec. Swim on front and back, 15 yd. Exit Skills: Jump into shoulder-deep water, tread water or float 15 sec., swim on front and/or back for 5 yd. and exit the water Back float 15 sec., roll to front and recover to a vertical position Swim on front 5 yd., roll to back and float 15 sec., roll to front and continue swimming 5 yd. Prerequisite: Children must have complete Learn-to-Swim Lessons: Level 1 or have equivalent skills.SSP Youth 2025-2026 -
SSP Swim Lessons: Level 3 (Ages 6 & Older)AquaticsLevel 3 - Stroke Development Participants, ages 6 and up, achieve basic swimming competency learning front crawl and elementary backstroke. Skills include: Jump into deep water Kneeling dive Survival float, back float and tread water Breaststroke kick, dolphin kick, scissors kick, 25 yd. each Front crawl and elementary backstroke, 15 yd. each Exit Skills: Jump into deep water, tread water or float for one minute, rotate one full turn and swim front crawl or elementary backstroke 25 yd. Swim front crawl, 15 yd. and elementary backstroke 15 yd. Prerequisite: Children must have completed Learn-to-Swim Lessons: Level 2 or have equivalent skills. SSP Private Swim LessonsSports & RecreationPrivate lessons are one-on-one with an instructor and offer individualized attention. They can help adults or children build swimming skills and confidence in the water. Our instructors tailor lessons for each participant. Please select from available private swim options or email mschlemmer@sspps.org to ask for other available time slots.
