Starting SoonLifeguard - BLAquaticsThe Lifeguarding course is for teachers/coaches and provides participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies in both shallow water (less than 7 feet) and deeper water (7 feet or more) and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. This class is taught in a blended learning format and the assigned online portions must be completed prior to the instructor-led sessions. Participants who successfully complete this course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding (including deep water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid valid for 2 years. Prerequisites: 1. Minimum age: 21 years 2. Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence: Jump into the water submerge resurface swim 150 yards (using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both), maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs, then swim 50 yards using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both. 3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive to a depth of 7 to 12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point holding the object at the surface with both hands, exit the water without using a ladder or steps. The Makers Market celebrates local artists and small businesses, providing an opportunity to connect with community members while getting a head start on shopping for unique holiday gifts. All proceeds from vendor registration fees support District 197 family programs, which bring low-cost enrichment and learning opportunities to our district. The 2025 Makers Market will take place on Sat. Nov 14 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Two Rivers High School. Registration and payment receipt does not guarantee approval to participate. All applications will be reviewed first. If you are approved as a vendor, you will receive an email verification with a welcome letter and next steps. Once approved as a vendor, registration fees are nonrefundable. Vendor booth locations are determined by the number of participants, type of product and electrical needs. Requests for specific locations will be taken into account. If your application is denied, you will receive a full refund of your registration fee along with an explanation of why it was denied.
